The diagram illustrates the proportion of water usage via various sectors in Sydney, Australia, in 1997 and 2007.

Sectors of water usage are divided into five categories, each represents a specific demand of an industry or household use. In this 10-year-period, without considering the total amount of consumed water, percentages of service industry and household saw rising, while those of food, manufacturing, and building industries saw downsizing.

More specifically, Food industry occupied the greatest proportion of water used throughout the time, with almost a half in 1997 despite a slight decrease by 7% in 2007. Service and manufacturing service, along with household use contributed nearly the other half, by forming 13%, 19%, and 15% in 1997, then 25%, 21%, 11% in 2007. Building industry, at last, was the smallest water consumer, with only 5% and 2% in both years.

To sum, food industry used most of the water among industries in Sydney, while building industry was its opposite. Also, service industry made the largest change rate in only 10 years (12% more).
