　　To what extent do you think societies benefit from the contact and closer relationship with foreigners brought about by international business and tourism?

With the inevitable progress of globalization, the impacts brought by international business and tourism cannot be ignored. Nowadays, local residents have more opportunities to get in contact with foreign people in different means. While I tend to believe that such trend is beneficial to our society to a large extent, it also causes minor issues.

In business context, the proliferation of international corporations has two major merits. On one hand, these companies provide more job opportunities to local residents, especially those with high level of knowledge and skills, thereby boosting the income level of them. On the other hand, they also promote the national economy by boosting GDP and simulating more export and import, which makes the country more competitive in international business arena. 

In terms of international tourism, there are at least two advantages. Similarly, the increasing popularity of local tourists attractions would undoubtedly boost local economy and create more tourism related job vacancies. Moreover, it encourages foreigners to appreciate the beauty of local culture, which is called “soft power” of a country, and this is an absolutely crucial indicator of a country’s overall strength.

However, the increasing contact with outsiders is not without its downside. One of the most apparent issues is cultural conflict. For instance, it is considered to be impolite to make noises when eating noodles in China, but it is an indication of satisfaction toward the food in Japan. It can be seen that local customs are extremely diversified, and the lack of cultural sensitivity and respect of local custom could create tension between foreigners and the locals. 

In conclusion, although this new trend leads to certain new-emerging issues, I still held a positive view towards the growth of number of foreigners in my country, as the benefits brought by them are multiple and profound.
